Yip yip! Spot on Square is on sale! From Nov 8th to the 30th the Roh and Hiya Collections are 15% off*.
We are big fans of their clean modern designs, especially since so many pieces can easily transition a design-lovers drool worthy nursery to a super chic modern adult pad without any obvious overlap. So, when little Timmy grows up and moves out you can use his Roh Bookshelf in your living room or bedroom…a gift for him is a gift for you.
Of course, we are still drooling over the Spot on Square Roh Crib in the photo above. Does it look familiar? That’s because it is the same modern crib we posted about a few weeks ago as seen in Rachel Zoe’s home. Talk about a room with a view – this beautiful crib is every modern design loving parent’s dream – in place of the traditional wooden crib bars you’ll discover that the Spot on Square Roh Crib has half-inch clear acrylic. (And don’t worry – it’s BPA free, phthalate free, and 100% recyclable!) Bob and Nicole Springer, the husband and wife team who founded the company and created this incredibly modern crib, believed that children should be surrounded by simple, eco-conscious, high-quality products that promote an appreciation for design. To Bob and Nicole, we say – congratulations – mission accomplished! So dive in now, because for a limited time, you can get these gorgeous products at a discount*! Score!
Spot on Square sale pieces…Check it!
*Sorry, Eicho pieces are excluded from the sale and this promo cannot be combined with any other discount.

Does anyone else watch that bananas show, The Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo? Personally, I find it riveting, despite the way they all speak! Poor Jeremiah. He’s so cute and enthusiastic, but Rach and Rodge gave him the heave-ho right before Rachel’s due date. They then beg him to design baby Sky’s modern nursery in like five minutes (because of religious traditions, they don’t believe in getting ready for the baby until it has arrived, so he literally had the time she was in the hospital giving birth to get this together). Luckily, the Spot On Square Roh Crib was on Jere’s radar:

After pulling himself together during another quick room-appointing moment, the final product is beautiful, though Rachel may have to re-think her love of all things white when she sees what Sky’s sticky little fingers will do to it as he gets into Go-gurt and red popsicles!

Jere used taupe to warm up all that white, including the Olio Bed Skirt and Cobblestone Crib Set. Note how the cobblestone takes on a giraffe print look when paired with a stuffed giraffe. Rich textures were brought in via the shag rugs, poufs, and throws, and you know a Zoe baby has to have some Hermes around.

Yup, these are the little one’s shoes. I. Die. Check out those tiny white Gucci loafers on the end. They remind me of Herb Tarlick on WKRP in Cincinnati. Alright, I’m really old, I admit it.

I am suffering from holiday A.D.D. I’m surfing around from twitter to a Scrabble game (“Porcinis” – 95 points!); from tumblr to Houzz, from Garnet Hill Orla Keily bargains ($49 bags!!!) to Remodelista, etc. etc.! I figured I’d share some of my favorites throughout the day as I go along.
So, a little known fact about people who don’t have kids is that we don’t care about nurseries. We avoid ToysRUs, we send Pottery Barn Kids catalogs straight to the recycling bin and we think finding poop on an upholstered chair in the living room on Christmas morning is disgusting (true story). So it takes an extra special, truly bedazzling nursery for us to give it a second look, and a total superstar for us to actually like it. I present this nursery by Insidesign that I just spied over at Remodelista. OF COURSE it is Dutch. It almost makes me believe I could live with all the poop:

If this got you in the mood to shop for modern nursery goods, this is what Design Public has for your hip baby.

I am pleased to introduce the newest baby and kid furniture line to be added to our site: Spot on Square. Co-founders, Bob and Nicole Springer bring a clean and calm collection to the scene, keeping unnecessary noise away from your child’s treasured space.
The Hiya series, a nickname given to Bob and Nicole’s son by his twin sister, conveys a childlike sense of purity, simplicity and sustainability. Enjoy!
Where did the name Spot on Square come from?
Our son was drawing on the driveway with chalk. He had drawn a square with a circle in it. When I asked him about it he referred to as the spot in the square. Nicole and I thought this was great graphically and began to think about how we could use it. After a bit of thought we came up with Spot On Square. We felt that this was a good fit being a bit of a play on words yet it was quite playful at the same time.
Bob, you appear to have quite an extensive industrial design background. Tell us about your experiences and how has it evolved into to starting Spot on Square? How about being a father, how has this played a role?
I had the opportunity as an undergrad student to be an understudy to an eccentric Finnish designer named Stefan Lindfors. During this time I worked on a number of furniture projects and gained a love for furniture design. My time since has been primarily in a corporate environment. Read the rest of this entry »
