Hot Design in Action: Wall Flats at Home

Thanks to everyone who has been posting their Design Public goodies in action around their own homes. I love these so much more than retail product shots; it shows how talented you all are and I’m nosy; I love getting a peek into your homes and lives this way. Here are a few ways you all are using Inhabit’s Wall Flats that caught my eye this week:

These Inhabit Wall Flats were posted by Lisa Choules, and because she posted this picture, I am suffering from an acute case of kitchen envy! So clean and white, full of style, and punched with color and mid-mod style in all the right ways. On the far left wall you can see the Drift Wall Flats adding just the right amount of texture, the perfect backdrop for her Nelson Pendant Lamp and Eames Eiffel Base Shell Chairs. Bravo!

Next we have this super hip and energetic nursery posted by Lori, who has used Seesaw Wall Flats to add dimension to the white wall in the room. I love the way she’s balanced white, hardwood floors and that brilliant green, and the birch trees are the perfect finishing touch. Isn’t it amazing how far nursery design has come in the past decade? Babies are growing up hipper than ever!

Want to explore all of the cool Wall Flats designs? Check them out here. Check out all of the Hot Design in Action here.  Want to share your own hot design in action? We don’t ask this without offering up a little enticement: Email us a photo of design in your home and get $10 off your next order. If your photo includes you or a friend in the shot you’ll be entered to win a monthly drawing for a $200 gift certificate!

Thanks so much to Flickr member Laurana for adding these cheerful shots of her kitchen to our Fresh New Spaces Group. This yellow will really wake one up while waiting for the coffee to brew! I’m sure on those winter days when the sun sets very early in Finland, this color helps brighten things up.

If you can read Finnish, you can learn more about this kitchen on Laurana’s blog.

Flickr Faves on Fridays

Oh I am having a lot of trouble narrowing down my picks for today’s flickr fave. I caught up with our Fresh New Spaces group earlier this week and my finger is sprained from hitting “Add to Faves” so many times. Thanks to everyone who is adding their photos to the pool, it gave me a ton of inspiration on a yucky rainy day when I thought I was burnt out on design!

While I had trouble picking, I realized I was in awe of flickr member uydurrukcu’s eye. I was hitting “add to faves” over and over again, which sent me to her Profile and on to her blog. Posting from Turkey, she is great at finding fresh spaces, bathed in white with clever graphics and mixes of vintage, antique, modern and a bit of IKEA thrown in. Here’s a sample of some of the images she’s posted to our group lately:

In case you didn’t check your New York Times Home section today, I wanted to let you know about a really interesting show at the MoMA. It’s called “Counter Space: Design and the Modern Kitchen.” It’s all about the history of kitchens. To learn more, click here.

Some of our other favorite kitchen design inspiration sources include Susan Serra, The Kitchen Designer, and Kitchenlab. Check them out if you are in a kitchen kind of mood today.

Sorry this one is late, I wanted to make sure I had permission to use it! This lovely kitchen photograph comes from flickr member  and professional photographer danielleanthony. The kitchen is in a house on Cannon Beach, one of the most sublimely beautiful places I’ve ever visited. Note how all of the color is brought in by the plates:
