What Are You Pinning These Days?

So peeps, are you on Pinterest? What do you like to pin? Are you planning out renovations by pinning inspirational ideas to one board for each room? Do you like to pin fashion style? Inspirational quotations? National Geographic wonders? Cats playing the piano? I find I like it all and have a little bit of everything. I also get to contribute to our Design Public Pinboards sometimes, so when you see something weird on there, it probably came from me, like this:

So whomever I pinned it from says it’s the “Waiotapu Thermal Reserve, Rotorua, New Zealand.” The thing is with Pinterest that you just have to hope that’s true and be grateful that anyone left any sort of note whatsoever. If there’s one problem with Pinterest, it’s their crediting proecss. Luckily, this one linked to a conscientious Tumbler user who linked it to the original picture taken by lengkiong on Flickr.

Other boards we’ve been having fun with as summer approaches are I Want To Go To There, full of bucket-list worthy destinations with a disproportionate amount of them in Greece.

We’re also having fun grabbing up pictures for a Treehouse pinboard. Is it because it makes us feel like kids? Probably!

Of course, we’re loving Outdoor Spaces and Vertical Gardens for spring and summer, and have been stashing up photos during our winter hibernation!

The possibilities are really endless; what are you guys pinning these days? Is there anything you’d like to see us gathering? I so appreciated it when a reader requested that we start to collect Modern Basement Renovations – it was a great idea I had not thought of. Please dont be shy, shoot us a comment and let us know what you’d like to see from Design Public’s Pinterest Page!

I find myself clicking “a fave” every time I see a great work space on Flickr; somehow no matter how hard I try, I cannot get mine to look as nice as the likes of this desk area, from flickr member and blogger The Style Observatory. Love the nautical charts, love the inspiration board, the flowers and the thought of plugging in my laptop in this spot. How’s your workspace? Share it with us in our Fresh New Spaces group.

Organization Wednesday: Inspiration Board

As you well know by now, I am always trolling the web for inspiring work spaces. I am very jealous of this one, by Designs by Shoshana. It’s so clean and organized that you don’t even notice that monolith of a printer! Did you even notice that the wall files are, well, on the wall, or that they are files? They seem to fit right into the composition of artwork. The white holder and simple manila folders help it blend right in as well? I have to say my favorite part of this room is that gorgeous inspiration board. It appears to be a frame full of glass cloth, with foam core or cork behind it.

Inspiration Monday: Getting Nautical

Sometimes when I’m stumped I pull out a jumbled box of fabric samples, favorite postcards, little scraps I’ve torn out of magazines and other ephemera and throw them on an inspiration board. I’ve finally learned not to bother feeling like I have to glue anything down or make it permanent, I can keep rearranging and playing around with it until I see something I like, snap a photo, and move on. Do you ever do this?

Awhile back I was ready for summer and feeling patriotic so everything was red, white and blue and nautical. It’s making me want to change up my house for the hot months that are coming our way here in Georgia with some crisp blue and white so that I can pretend I’m on some island off the New England coast.

Inspiration Board Tip: Try to work in Wonder Woman whenever possible.

I’ll try to pull together some of my favorite nautical products from Design Public on Polyvore in case you are in the mood for a nautical decor change-up!

Now I’m enjoying the most recent interview over at Balustrade and Bitters with Kishani Perera. I love the way she uses color!

OK, as soon as this laptop battery dies, I’m going to go clean out my desk and reorganize my inspiration board!
