Are you familiar with the artist Eric Hopkins? His beautiful renderings of Maine’s landscapes continue long tradition of artists being inspired by the sublime landscape there. This list includes Edward Hopper, Fairfield Porter, Andrew Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth, Alex Katz, Winslow Homer and Neil Welliver. If you’re lucky enough to be in Maine this summer, check out his gallery in Rockland (a stone’s throw from The Farnsworth Museum) and/or his show at Isalos Fine Art in Stonington, Maine.

Scaled properly that is. Check out how perfectly scaled Flickr member irideeën’s furnishings are. For example, the size of the mirror over the fireplace, and the size of the curtains:

Don’t you just love how airy, light, and sophisticated this is? It’s just so obvious it must be in Europe. That desk is absolutely to die for.
The other end of the room is slightly more casual:

and when we turn another ninety degrees, we’re surprised again; this time by some envy-inducing built-ins and a peak into the next room:

I kinda dig the way irideeën made me work for it, piecing together the room shot by shot. Nice work irideeën! Oh, and irideeën has a blog here, be sure to check it out. Also, irideeën lives in The Netherlands. After seeing this pad, I don’t think anyone else can make a herringbone floor as beautifully as the Dutch can.
All three images from Flickr member irideeën.

I think I have a new favorite Thomas Wold Project. The exuberant light and color this assemblage is emitting adds a whole new level of fun to his work.

I love seeing the pieces before Thomas puts them together and have this mental image of how his mental images work, with pieces of tables and cabinets and door and legs swirling around, landing in different compositions, then moving again. Check out this post on his blog and you’ll recognize an element or two.
Thanks to Thomas for posting this in our Fresh New Spaces Group!

Oh I am having a lot of trouble narrowing down my picks for today’s flickr fave. I caught up with our Fresh New Spaces group earlier this week and my finger is sprained from hitting “Add to Faves” so many times. Thanks to everyone who is adding their photos to the pool, it gave me a ton of inspiration on a yucky rainy day when I thought I was burnt out on design!
While I had trouble picking, I realized I was in awe of flickr member uydurrukcu’s eye. I was hitting “add to faves” over and over again, which sent me to her Profile and on to her blog. Posting from Turkey, she is great at finding fresh spaces, bathed in white with clever graphics and mixes of vintage, antique, modern and a bit of IKEA thrown in. Here’s a sample of some of the images she’s posted to our group lately:

I am always struck by flickr member ivy style33′s well, style! She is constantly styling her home, figuring out inexpensive ways to make her home look extremely expensive, and she is a master of print and texture. This white corner is a perfect example of what I’m talking about. The fact that it’s mostly white makes one notice the texture on that shade, the mobile strand, the lampshade. The fact that she framed all of her artwork in the same frames makes them a cohesive collection:

Yea! Ivy is keeping us up to date with whatever she has going on in a blog – Check it out here! To get your own piece of Ivy Style, check out her Etsy shop.
