Just a reminder that our sale on Gus*Modern upholstered pieces is ending soon. So take the weekend to think it over and get your orders in by Sunday (August 17, 2014) at midnight EST. If you haven’t had a chance to glance over the options, here’s a peek at a few of the highlights.
Gus*Modern has great sofa selections, whether you’re looking for a loveseat, full-sized or a sectional. The Jane Loft Bi-Sectional Sofa is very versatile. Its metal base lends it well to a loft, while its tufting lets it fit right in with a more traditional family room.
Speaking of versatile, one of my favorite pieces is an upholstered ottoman. The Gus*Modern Henry Ottoman can serve as coffee table, a footrest and extra seating in a pinch. It also looks great at the end of a bed or in an entryway.
Gus*Modern GT Rocker is a new classic. WIth its simple modern silhouette, it references mid-century style with a contemporary twist. The hard steel base contrasts with the contoured soft upholstered seat and back. It’s a great accent piece for a living room, home office, family room or bedroom.
The Gus Modern Carmichael Bed is clean-lined yet soft. Its wingback headboard nods to traditional style in a contemporary way. It also includes a support system that eliminates the need for a box spring, and its upholstered side rails eliminate the need for a bedskirt.
This is just a tiny sample of all the great modern pieces you can save on through Sunday. So go take a last look and make your decision while you can still save 20%!
In case you are unfamiliar with iittala, it’s a brand that offers many iconic pieces for design lovers, from hand-blown glass birds designed by Oiva Toikka to classic vases by Alvar Aalto.
By the way, in case you were wondering about the man who behind the birds, this is Oiva Toikka:
But there is so much more to iittala than just the coolest glass birds around. It’s my go-to for host/hostess and wedding gifts. When there’s a sale like this, I like to stock up. Don’t tell my friends, but my standing wedding gift for everyone I ever met in architecture school is an Aalto vase. I like to scoop up a few when I can save 20%.
Of course, don’t feel like you have to buy stuff for other people. When there’s a sale, it’s an even better justification to shop just for yourself. The simplicity of Kaj Franck’s Kartio Carafe will please you minimalists and fans of all things Finnish.
The iittala Sarpaneva 2.9 quart Cast Iron Casserole with the wooden handle will become your favorite piece of cookware, and you’ll leave it out on the stovetop 24/7 just to show it off. I gave one to my very picky impeccable Aunt Sally Wittenberg many years ago and it is always out on her stove. And Aunt Sally was never one to just leave things on the stove that weren’t in use.
Even if you’re just looking up to pick up a little something, there’s something special from iittala. My choice is the iittala Kastehlmi in light blue. The little beads make this such an elegant and charming piece. While it is practical glassware, I’m thinking it’s going on my nightstand to corral my watch and jewelry, or perhaps with one floating flower in it.
If your tot is in the need for a big-girl or big-boy bed, or will be soon, now is the time to scoop it up. Why? Because right now all Flexa products are 25% off. You can take some time to think it over, as the sale does not end until July 31, 2014, but start perusing now.
Here’s what is so awesome about Flexa. When your kiddo is in the bunk bed phase, the two beds stack safely one atop the other, complete with ladder.
On top, you can add a Flexa cave to create a penthouse fort.
Another accessory are the pockets in all three themes — these are great for keeping a flashlight, favorite stuffed animal and books within bedside reach.
If one kiddo is handing down the beds to another, you can switch out the theme to suit their tastes — maybe your son is into the jungle theme and your daughter’s favorite word is “ARGGG!” — it’s an easy switch from a jungle loft to a pirate ship. Or a princess cave can top some pirate curtains.
Finally, once they trade jungles and pirates for Teen People, they may want to lose the bunks all together. This is easy, as the two beds easily transform into side-by-side twins, totally ready for tween slumber parties.
Think it over, check out the different finishes and themes and decide if Flexa’s versatile line will fit your growing toddler’s lifestyle. If so, jump on it while you can save 25%. Sale ends July 31, 2014.
