Spring has sprung, summer’s on the way and it’s time to think about loungin’ and sipping cold G&Ts, poolside, patio or even on a tiny balcony. That’s why we’re offering All Richard Schultz Collection pieces for 15% off right now. You can shop ‘em all here. Want more info? That’s what I’m here for.

Richard Schultz was good pals with Florence Knoll, and back in 1966 she asked him if he could whip her up some outdoor furniture that wouldn’t rust and corrode due to the salt air and other elements. Teflon thread and powdercoating met killer classic style, and an iconic collection was born. It’s known as the Richard Schultz 1966 Collection, and it’s still going strong today. Oh, and it also has MoMA’s seal of approval, as part of its permanent collection.

Check out an inspiring video of Mr. Schultz talking about design

Richard Schultz 1966 Serving Cart

The matching cart is perfect for mixing up cocktails for your patio guests, or doing that whole tea thing if that’s more your speed.

The Richard Schultz Petal Coffee Table

Schultz’s Petal tables will stand up to the elements, but they also look fantastic indoors. They come in dining, coffee and side table versions. While the bottoms of their stands do a little bit of that “slum of table legs” thing that Florence Knoll’s other pal Eero hated so much, they still have some hot pedestal action going on.

Richard Schultz Topiary Bench

More whimsical than his other classic pieces, Schultz took inspiration from clipped shrubs and hedges and topiaried up a fun bench that looks like an abstracted hedge. Not feeling his classic whites and tans? Don’t fret, the Topiary collection comes Daffodil Yellow, Dark Bronze, Forest Green, Onyx, Sky Blue, Terra Cotta, well and yeah, White.  It also comes in a dining table version:

My Zebra Pillow Outlet Score

Becky

Sometimes I forget how much I love getting a package from Design Public. Yesterday I received my Thomas Paul Zebra Canvas Pillow in Java and I could not be more thrilled. I scored it through our outlet, and the only sacrifice I had to make was that the box had been opened. Big whoop.

By the way, I just had that door installed last week and it still needs to be painted and I need to get some hardware that is not bottom of the barrel, so don’t judge! At least there is no longer a breeze coming straight through the old hollow bungalow door from the ’40s that it replaced.

Anyway, There are lots of great scores to be had in the Design Public Outlet. Right now we’re having a blowout. These items are samples and returns. They are “as-is” and all sales are final, but the most common condition granting the big discounts  is “Opened Box.” Again, big whoop. In return for these stipulations, items are marked 40-80% down right now for our big blowout. You can find just about anything from bedding to barstools, lighting to area rugs. I’m eyeing this phone by Jaspar Morrison:

and this DwellStudio Home Gates Rug:

So if you like them too and want the score, you’d better hurry up and make your order before I do!

By the way, if you are jealous of my zebra pillow, you can still order it through Design Public by clicking on the picture below:

Hey All!

Just wanted to let you know we have some great sales going on right now. If you’ve been coveting an iconic piece from Kartell, now is the time to hop on it! Prices have been slashed 20%, today through March 25, 2013.  You may not even realize how many iconic pieces Kartell offers; check them all out here.

Kartell FL/Y Suspension Lamps

Here are a few that have been on my wish list for quite some time; I think if I had to choose just one today, it would be the Kartell Masters Chair as it is so clever, and because The Master just arrived from Netflix, so I’m taking it as a sign. The Masters Chair combines the silhouettes of three iconic mid-century modern chairs, Arne Jacobsen’s Series 7 Chair, the Eames Shell Chair and Eero Saarinen’s Tulip Chair. It’s the one in the top left corner below:

Ah contrast. Dark walnut-stained teak wood combined with sleek white powder-coated aluminum accents makes for beautiful balance in the sophisticated Dark Collection from MASH Studios. Whether or not your weekend plans include shopping for a piece or two of furniture, be sure to check out the clean lines and beautiful finishes on these clever contemporary pieces. We have a number of beautiful pieces on sale at 20% off while supplies last. All of these pieces are limited editions, so there is only a limited supply. Here’s a peek at some of my personal favorites.

I love a hard-working piece of furniture, and the Limited Edition Dark Low Storage Unit certainly fits the bill. What’s great is that you can use it in your living room for books, display and media storage today, then use it as a nightstand or linen storage in your bedroom when you’re switching things up. It has two large drawers for storage and an open compartment complete with an adjustable shelf. I think it also makes a beautiful TV stand; you could simply drill a few holes for wires in the back for the cable and ROKU boxes, then stash all of your DVDs in the drawers.

The Limited Edition Dark Coffee Table has clean lines that you won’t need to clutter up. Why? Because it has a secret…

… the white aluminum panels slide out, revealing a spot for remotes, trashy magazines, pens, and other items that aren’t up to coffee table book status.

Next we have the Limited Edition Dark Entertainment Shelf. It has three divided compartments for organization, complete with a white sliding aluminum panel. You can slide the panel over to hide the unsightly electronics when they are not in use.

The Limited Edition Dark Nightstand has a minimalist look but plenty of room to stash all of your goodies and room for your bedtime reading underneath.

Finally, a beautiful Limited Edition Dark Occasional Table is an elegant perch for cocktails. The simple construction, clean lines and beautiful wood color make it the perfect piece to center your furniture around.

Is one of your design goals for 2013 to replace that sofa? Whether your cat has used your current sofa as a large scratching pad or you’re just plumb tired of its oversized rolled arms, January 2013 is a great time to save some bucks on a sofa from Gus Modern. These sofas will be on sale through January 31, 2013. Here’s a look at a few of the beautiful styles available. Please note that most of the styles are available as sofa and sectional sofas.

The Gus Modern Atwood Sofa. This sofa takes a dash of Chesterfield, a pinch of mid-century modern, a dollop of fresh creativity and results in an appealing cushy piece that is hemmed in by a large rectangular frame. It is also available in a chair and a sectional.

The Gus Modern Adelaide Sofa. The Adelaide could easily slip into a Mad Men set. I can just see Don Draper binge drinking at work, then curling up for the night in his office, on this sofa.

The Gus Modern Carmichael Sofa. This high-backed sofa is 72″ long and sits atop elegant ash legs.

The Gus Modern Thatcher Sofa. This sofa throws a diamond pattern into a room via a subtle harlequin tufting pattern. It sits atop a sleek stainless steel frame.

The Gus Modern Jane Loft Bi-Sectional Sofa. This sofa’s chaise can be swung to the left side or the right. It’s neatly tailored tufts add depth and comfort while its streamlined frame and lines keeps things contemporary. This version is for those of us with smaller living rooms; a larger Jane Sectional is available as well.

The Gus Modern Carter Sectional combines tufted upholstery with un-tufted pillows that you can steal and stack for extra lazy movie viewing.

The Gus Modern Richmond Bi-Sectional Sofa. Not so into tufting? Then the the Richmond is for you.  It’s a great way to go sectional without having the sectional eat up your room. The great thing about this shape is that is can work with rooms from traditional shabby chic to contemporary.
