DP Customer Profile: Kelly Osborne’s Magazine Ready Home

Whoa, nelly! Boy do we have a treat in store today…Kelly Osborne (no, not Kelly Osbourne) from See Jane Work has kindly shared with us some incredible images of her home. Yes, you will feel like she ripped pages out of a magazine and sent us scanned copies. But, no! This is actually her home. I would like the bathtub and the twelve chickens and the entire kitchen and the living room and the dining room, might as well through in the kids while we’re at it!

Name: Kelly Osborne

Where do you live? Thousand Oaks, CA

What do you do? VP, Public Relations & Marketing at See Jane Work

Kelly Osborne, Living Room

DP Purchase/s: Wow, where do I begin. This is just the stuff that shows up in the pictures…Amenity Home fabric stretch print, Mod Mom Toy Box, Lights Up! Deco Pendant Lamp, Lights Up! Floor Lamp, Blu Dot Barbarella Console Table

What’s your favorite DP product and why? Definitely the Mod Mom Toy Box – it’s such a beautiful piece. I wish she would do larger pieces like buffets or coffee tables. It’s furniture that’s also art. My kids keep their Lego’s on one side and extra train tracks on the other.

A New Addiction: The Selby

Thanks to DP’s Antoi (one of the most incredible web scourers out there), I have recently become a The Selby junkie. Antoi’s description of the site is perfect: “A bit like The Sartorialist but for personal spaces.”

Great photos + tons of characters (like fashion designers, artists, musicians, librarians, magazine editors, actors, directors, grandpa cobrasnake) + modern home decor inspiration = my ultimate dream come true. I would highly recommend clicking through a featured home to see more of the space as well as creative handwritten interviews.

This changes daily, but currently my favorite space is Matthew Eikelberger’s home (boutique manager, artist and musician)…

And my favorite character/image compilation has to be Boppy (grandpa cobrasnake)…

America at Home

I am sure I am not the only one who loves to get a peek into how others live. Not so much in the voyeristic manner no, no, but more so in witnessing the variety of ways people make their homes their own. A good way to do this without being labeled as a full on voyeur…check out the recently published “America at Home.” The book captures all the ways that we work, play, learn, live, interact and transform our dwellings into our homes. From McMansions, to mobile homes, to tree houses, to tenement slums, to ranches, to retirement homes…the amazing images document the harmonies and paradoxes of home life in the United States.

DP Customer Profile: Anthony and Mr. Buddy

I am particularly fond of viewing photos of Design Public products in action…like folks swinging on a Fatboy Headdemock, or modeling with their Vitra Nelson Clock, or dressing up their OFFI My Pet Lamp. In this case, the “action shot du jour” is of four legged friend Mr. Buddy scratching his little heart out on a Marmalade pet care Sweet Lounge Cat Bed and sitting on a Hepper Wave Pet Bed. Obviously, Mr. Buddy’s owner, Anthony, has done a might fine job of pampering his purry pal.

How would you describe your design style? Retro modern

DP customer Mary Krefting has it made. 1.) Her oldest child, Mason (age 3), is brilliant. To Mason, a Zid Zid Poof is not just a Zid Zid Poof. Instead, it is a vast mountain for his train set to coast around. Genius! 2.) Her youngest, Sofia (age 1), is the perfect floor model to accompany a TrueModern’s Orange 4 Drawer Dresser (seen below). Well done, Mary. Well done.
