It’s funny; you never know where inspiration will strike. I recently had a DEE-Lish brunch at the Carroll Street Cafe in Cabbagetown (Atlanta) and was struck by the way they had painted their tables. Each was unique, but there was something about this blonde wood with a sophisticated coastal palette that really struck me. Wouldn’t it be a great palette for an entire room? Olive, turquoise, an almost-mustard shade of yellow, cream, and a bit of blackish-brown for punctuation. I decided to let this be my inspiration for a little Polyvore collage action.

Well, January’s quite over, the Superbowl is over, and it may be time to get back into those weekend projects. One part of making your home office a place where you want to spend time is to be sure and add artwork that inspires you. Whether it’s nautical charts, a big inspiration board, etsy prints or a vintage blackboard, why don’t you get out a hammer and nails and get cracking on this one? It won’t take long but it will make a big difference!

OK all, I’m about a day and a half behind and a dollar short this week, but I was just looking over a bit of yellow, gray and white on an inspiration board and decided to play a little bit on polyvore. Are you polyvoring yet? It’s so much fun but be warned, it’s very addicting!

Getting the kids to stay seated at the kids’ table is one of the most challenging tasks of any parent during holiday festivities.
Whether you’re a parent or simply a host to guests with children, these 3 kiddie table ideas will help you keep those tiny bums in their seats!

1. Available in playful and grown-up prints, these placemats from Modern-Twist are “the bee’s knees.” Nurturing the inner artist in every child, the mats are doodle-friendly with the use of washable or dry erase markers.
2. Make the kids feel like important guests. Use these adorable picture frames from DwellStudio as place cards.
3. Use craft paper instead of a table cloth and let the kids go wild with the new DwellStudio Stamp Sets. Available sets in Baby Farm, Baby Zoo and Baby City.

This week on Polyvore I went to an old inspiration board and started thinking about how to apply it to a dorm room. Granted, you might not have the budget for all of this stuff, or you may be moving in somewhere that comes complete with a desk, lamp, and shelves, but hey, it’s fun to play in Polyvore and wish I were headed off to be a first year all over again. We’re going to keep giving you some inspiration and ideas from now until school starts.
