Did you happen to catch the awesome Marimekko hot air balloon? In case you were not in Helsinki that day, when they celebrated the 60th anniversary of the company, here’s a quick minute of it. I love that they choose pink UNIKKO for the print! It is probably their best seller, and it was designed by the iconic textile designer, Maija Isola, in 1964.
Sorry for saying “case of the Mondays.” I reckon I could get my a** kicked for that. Also, if that cheesy “Up, up in away…in my beautiful, my beautiful balloon” song is now in your head, I’m sorry for that as well.
Wow, when I first saw Flickr member j5k’s home, I thought it was some sort of Alvar Aalto landmark. It incorporates a spectacular collection of mid-century modern furniture. This post is a teaser, I encourage you to check out the entire Home set from j5k.
I’m not sure how Coca-Cola can ever erase its carbon footprint, but this innovative billboard is a good step regardless. Perhaps Chik-Fil-A can start putting its crazy “Eat More Chik’in” cows on a planted vertical field in the future:
They estimate that the billboard can absorb up to a total of 46,800 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere per year.
Kudos to the Museum of Design Atlanta, a.k.a. MODA, for this attention-grabbing move they made outside their doors on Peachtree Street:
These cute rubber duckies do make bathtime lots of fun, and they announced MODA’s exhibition Water Dream: The Art of Bathroom Design. I can’t wait to go check it out as soon as I have some time. For more information on the exhibition, click here. It will be there until September 24th.
