You may have seen the Fallingwater Lego Set already, but architecture geeks, get ready, my favorite house is now available in a LEGO version. It’s The Farnsworth House! Hooray!

Check out the details here.

By the way, if you are a big fan of The Farnsworth House, you can learn more about how to donate to its upkeep and how to visit here. It is pretty well recovered from a devastating flood, but I’m sure that really gave their budget an unexpected wallop.

Speaking of houses I’ve always wanted to gain access to, I could swear I just read somewhere about how to get into Eero Saarinen’s Miller House. Let me check…oh, so you can learn more here, compliments of The Indianapolis Museum of Art. Tours start May 10, and you need to make reservations. While I love the Farnsworth House and how it sits in the rather untouched flood plain (well, untouched by man, not by floods…), I’m dying to see the Dan Kiley landscape at The Miller House even more than I want to get into the house.

It’s never too early to start planning your midwestern architectural tour. Why not fly into Chicago, check out all of the architecture there, and take a road trip to Columbus Indiana?

My eight year old son (our little architect) LOVES Legos! When I say LOVE, I mean the – he has at least 50 sets. Every b-day and Christmas, he only wants Lego sets – type of LOVE! We took his to the new LegoLand that just opened up at Grapevine Mills a couple of weeks ago for his birthday. While there, I saw the entire Architecture line, including Fallingwater that I was just about to add to my shopping bag until…”Oh my! $100! Ahem, I think I’ll just set that right back down on its shelf.” I’ll have to make a trip back soon to see how much the Farnsworth House will be selling for. Thanks for sharing this info! I’ll be just as Lego-smitten as my little architect soon!
