Organization Wednesday: Cleaning the Laptop Screen

Not to be gross, but I’ve had a heck of a cough and cold this week which inspired me to figure out how to finally try and clean my laptop screen. I’m scared to touch it, like the wrong tiny bit of moisture would completely ruin it, thus ending my life as I know it and taking away my ability to earn a living!

After checking out products and advice, I found that one of the best, cheapest, and eco-friendly guides was at howtocleanthings.com. Thanks to Eric Ronning for the great advice. I’m out to buy some distilled water and vinegar and get to work!

Inspiration Monday: Leif Garrett as Art

So whenever I flipped around the channels this season and landed on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, I’d get especially sad when I’d see Leif Garrett, first of all because of his Behind the Music episode from a million years ago, and more recently, because of what a sunny Seventies California icon he was. The reason I remembered this was because I had stayed at The Parker Palm Springs back in September, and this photograph was hanging in my room:

All sadness for Leif aside, this is an awesome photo (there was one of Jackie O next to it). I swear, if you’re hard up for art around the house, some of the most beautiful photography around is sitting right there in your fashion mag. In fact, some of the funniest art also comes from magazines via stupid tabloid covers. Get creative with cheap frames from the big box store and fill your blank walls up with the images that inspire you. It’s a much better way to spend your time than watching Celebrity Rehab! What in the world has happened to VH-1? All of their shows go downhill from there, most of them too trashy even for me!

P.S. The interior design at The Parker was completed by Jonathan Adler, of course.

How gorgeous is this ceiling? Apparently, it’s crafted from recycled wood. I spied it over on Flickr, and it was added by Flickr member Jeremy Levine Design.

Dining Room with Recycled Wood Ceiling

According to the description, he made a lot of green moves in this project, including: gray water recycling, solar energy, passive thermal, daylighting, adding an interior pocket courtyard with bamboo garden and drought tolerant landscaping. To learn more, check out jeremylevine.com.

Welcome High Gloss Magazine! I actually heard about this magazine the other night while watching Chelsea Lately from Ms. Handler herself (the contents of her purse are featured in one spread). Wow, while the print magazines are disappearing, it’s opening up a lot of opportunities for enterprising creatives to create online magazines. High Gloss, you had me with the ivory donut phone and the twin Dorothy Draper dressers on the cover…

Organization Wednesday: How Do You Store Your Wine?

Just wondering. Usually a bottle in my house doesn’t last long enough to require much storage, but I was just wondering how all of you store your wine? Let me know in the comments section, or post a picture into our Fresh New Spaces Flickr group!
