We’re doing something a little different for the Holidays this year: One deal a week on a favorite DesignPublic product. Some deals will be published right here on our blog but most will not so if you want “in” you’ll have to subscribe to our newsletter.

Anyhoo — let’s kick things off with numero uno, open to all:

$50 for a Jonas Damon LED Numbers Clock

Yup. Snag a Jonas Damon Numbers Clock in Red for a cool $50 until this Sunday at midnight. The clock is usually priced at at $100, so… let’s see, that’s a savings of $50 or something. With the money you save you could either buy a SECOND clock (crazy) or better yet something else valued at approximately $50. Another thing you could conceivably do is walk into any Buck-a-Book store and buy fifty books like a total bad ass! You get the idea, 50 extra bucks. In your pocket.

Jonas Damon

I actually own this clock and can vouch for the cool factor.

You can toggle the LED brightness to very low with the push of a button. A nice feature that’s perfect for light sensitive sleepers like me.

The alarm feature is great as well. Never miss a flight or meeting again.

Here’s some pictures sent to us by Design Public customer Katie from NYC. She reports that her Jonas Damon Clock is “pretty neat”.

Dexter Set Design

Recently someone tipped me off to Production Designer and Interior Designer Brandy Alexander’s online portfolio and I found myself studying the sets from Dexter intently. Now the storyline has changed dramatically since these sets were designed (no spoilers here – I know a lot of people get into these shows later in big Netflix marathons), but I found it really funny to compare Dexter’s perfect condo with Rita’s cluttered family house. Brandy has told us so much about these characters from the moment they were first introduced to us, as well as about their differences via the set design. Check out Dexter’s c clean modern pad full of iconic modern furniture…

…with Rita’s overstuffed, shabby un-chic house:

(it is a cool little atomic ranch though, isn’t it?)

Environmental Tuesday: Gift Idea

I’m so glad sustainable design and environmental responsibility has become so widespread, because if I had to look at one more ugly thing made out of recycled cardboard or hemp I was going to, I don’t know, stop recycling in protest. Thank heavens eco-friendly designers have been working hard to stop “sustainable” and “chic” from being mutually exclusive. If you’d like to see a lot of beautiful examples, check out Green Living by Design: The Practical Guide to Eco-Friendly Remodeling and Decorating by Jean Nayar:

The book is down to under $17 on Amazon, and used versions are under $7

photo swiped from Brian Patrick Flynn, a.k.a. the decor demon. If anyone knows the photographer, please let me know – my copy is in the mail but I won’t be able to look it up for a few days!

B*tch Stole My Wallpaper

I was sitting around watching Fashion Police on E! the other night (I’m so glad Joan is back, speaking of, have you seen Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work? It’s EXCELLENT!). Anyway, once I got past all of those gold drapes, pictures of stars in outfits good and bad and hanging glass bubble, I noticed this fabulous wallpaper:

It’s Graham and Brown Barbara Hulanicki Viva Pattern Wallpaper, and it’s one of my favorite things we shill over here at Design Public. Here’s what it really looks like in all its glory, not what it looks like taken from a television screen with an iPhone camera!
