Who knew our customers were tribal belly dancers? Well, Mindy is, how fantastic is that?! There is nothing better after a long tribal dance than relaxing on a Fatboy Headdemock (at least I can only imagine…)

Name: Mindy

Where do you live? Pennsylvania [right outside Philly]

What do you do? Art Psychotherapist & Licensed Professional Counselor

What’s your favorite DP product and why? Fatboy Headdemock Hammock — This is by far, the most awesome hammock that I’ve ever “met.” It’s large enough for me & my husband [and our dog]

How would you describe your design style? Modern-eclectic, colorful, art”full.”

What was the best advice anyone ever gave you? “stop, breathe, think”….very helpful most days!

If you were a crayon, what color would you be? If I were a crayon, I’d love to be cerulean…there’s nothing like it! It’s a vibrant, rich, inviting blue that’s not too green or grey…hooray!

Do you collect anything? Tell us of your treasures…
I collect art materials and especially crayons…my “coolest ones” the guitar crayons my daughter bought for me 10 years ago from the rock n’ roll hall of fame! Believe it or not, I’ve never used them. They are way too amazing! I’d like to find some “dog crayons” [crayons shaped like real dogs] — that would be super cool! I’m also beginning to collect tribal paraphernalia, since I started tribal dancing a few years ago. That was an effort to research body image issues, which is part of my clinical practice interest, but I fell in love with doing it myself — so I continued.

Movies you can watch over and over: Top Gun…my husband and I love watching that movie together! I also love The Incredible Mr. Limpett with Don Knotts [an oldie but goodie]

What is a “dream day” like for you? Eyes open to the warm sun streaming through the bedroom window…my dog lovingly asking me (with his eyes) to take a walk…sweat pants over pj’s and off we go…grind/brew fresh coffee and sit on the deck while I drink a cup or two, tend to my plants…cook one or two “spur of the moment made up recipes”, shower, comfortable clothes, check email, call husband/daughter to say good morning [they are both at work during my "dream day"], ride my bike, read while relaxing on my FABULOUS FATBOY HAMMOCK, have dinner w/my family, go tribal belly dancing, watch something about the sea on national geographic, go to sleep w/my husband at my side & my Havanese [dog] at my feet!

Anything else we should know about you? I truly believes that art saves lives…which why I just co-authored a book titled Finding Your Voice through Creativity: The Art and Journaling Workbook for Disordered Eating (Jacobson-Levy & Foy-Tornay, 2010 Gurze Books). I also lecture on eating disorders/body image & dissociative identity disorder. I really love my work, and I am grateful that I can use art to help others heal!

Thanks, Mindy!
