While I didn’t make it Doo-Nanny this weekend, Drew and Sara did, and they sent along plenty of great pictures of all the fun they had in Alabama, hanging out with all the artists (including Natalie Chanin) and musicians and assorted southern characters at Butch Anthony’s farm in Seale Alabama. They gave me so many awesome photos that I could not even begin to edit, so I’ll insert a gallery of a fraction of them at the bottom. Here’s a peek:

In glancing at the new DwellStudio Home 2010 Collection images I thought to myself, “Self, the folks at DwellStudio have such an amazing eye for putting various patterns and colors together…this is certainly something that doesn’t come easy to the rest of us. So, Self, why not create a quick and easy ‘Deconstructed DwellStudio Home Collection Guide’ to help DP peeps put together the looks they like?” And I did. This is super basic but should hopefully help create the “bedscape” of your dreams without having to go back and forth between Design Public product pages to figure out what is what.
DwellStudio Peacock Bedding in Dove; DwellStudio Gate Euro Shams in Ash; DwellStudio Pyramids Standard Cases in Ash
DwellStudio Gate Duvet and Shams in Ash; DwellStudio Chinoiserie Pillow; DwellStudio Gate Sheets and Cases in Ash; DwellStudio Pyramids Matelasse in Pearl Coverlet
DwellStudio Peacock Citrine Duvet and Shams; DwellStudio Woven Pyramids Euro Sham in Dark Bronze; DwellStudio Linen Edge in Ash Sheets and Cases
DwellStudio Etching Duvet and Shams; DwellStudio Woven Pyramids Euro Sham in Ink; DwellStudio Pin Dot Sheets and Cases
This is just a smidgen of imagery from DwellStudio. If you see any other images on our site for DwellStudio or any other designer that you’d like to me deconstruct leave a comment and a link to the image and I’ll see how I do!

I love this modern take on the seen-it-a-million-times-in-hide-shape cowhide rug. I’m sure the cows prefer this version as well.
Ugh. What can I say? I’m so disorganized this week I cannot even find my composition notebook with my notes in it. Forget it. So instead, I’m going to link you over to a fabulous fellow Atlantan. My blogging pal Vanessa told me that she met the man that should be my new BFF in Atlanta so I thought I’d check out his blog and share it with you guys. He’s Brian Patrick Flynn, a.k.a. the Decor Demon. A dashing decor demon. I like it. I like it a lot. However, every time I try to get organized and blog about organizing, I wind up procrastinating and reading his blog. Then I do some laundry, then I come back to the laptop and fart around on facebook, trying to find more time-wasting games and inviting people who don’t want to play Scrabble to play with me. Then I read more Decor Demon. I love it! Do you know it? If not, click here and check it out. I mean, the man manages to work in a perfect reference about Don’t Tell Mom, the Babysitter’s Dead reference in relationship to men and tragic consequences in design (OH! THAT’S WHERE I RECOGNIZE THAT GUY ON “THE GOOD WIFE” FROM – HE HAD A HOT DOG VAN! THANK YOU! That has really been bugging me.).
Loving the framed Cavern Home wallpaper here
Now that I have distracted you, I’m going to blow off being organized this week and have Ali show off all the beautiful new Dwell Studio bedscapes tomorrow. I think the word “bedscape” is annoying, and I’m not sure it’s really a word, and spellcheck says it definitely is not a word (then again, spellcheck says that “spellcheck” is not a word either, so clearly spellcheck has some self-esteem issues), but there really isn’t another word that describes it, so it looks like we’re stuck with it. But I digress. Thank you Vanessa for the hot tip and thanks Brian for being the hot tip – keep up the great work!
Loving the blu dot real good chairs in blue with those green counters and wood

What better time to be inspired by SANAA than the Monday after they won the Pritzker Prize? We’ve featured a few of their projects here on Hatch over the years, and it’s great to have this honor make us appreciate their entire body of work as a masterful collection. As you peruse their work, take note of the way they handle the relationship between inside and out, and how they work with surface and its qualities of reflection, transparency, and tranlucency. It’s a constant play that pays meticulous attention to views. I also appreciate the way they consider the context of their built works. I’m kind of bummed that I’m writing this after perusing only photos, and that I’ve never experienced one of their spaces anywhere but in two-dimensions. First on my list: DIOR in Tokyo!
Anyway, the first time they popped up on my radar was with the The Toledo Glass Pavilion:

One project that created a ton of buzz here in the states was the Jenga-like New York Museum of Contemporary Art in Hell’s Kitchen:

One I had not seen until I started poking around on the interwebs was the Zollverein School:

Congratulations to Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of SANAA!
All images from e-architect, except for first New York Museum of Contemporary Art picture from here. Be sure to check out the photo media kit on the Pritzker site as well.

I was struck dumb by this bathroom renovation by flickr member BearZest:

BearZest and his partner live in the countryside in Portugal. I think what I love most about this room are the glossy, oversized, orange-red tiles on the wall. What an astounding difference this remodeling job makes! To check out the guest house for mature men that they run in Portugal, click here.
