I’m going to try and do a few of these little flickr posts one at a time today. I’ve been catching up on some of marking some faves from our Fresh New Spaces flickr group. Here’s the first. I love this dining room from white owl remade’s photostream.

I thought the only thing I might add to it would be wallpaper, and then I saw this note by the picture:
my dining room… I keep thinking of wallpaper, but then I’m such a fan of white walls…
I suggest this lovely print as seen in Wyoming99!’s photostream:

Here is a larger shot of the print:

Do you think it will work? Do you have any other favorite prints that would work with that lovely black and white dining room? Do you know where that soapdish came from in the last photo? I love it!

As I navigated my way throught the treacherous sidewalks of Candler Park (I’m talking tree roots messing up the concrete, not criminal danger!), I stumbled upon this charming little planter. Don’t you just love coming across something unexpected like this? It’s such a great representation of that neighborhood – full of funky, cute bungalows and cool, fun, diverse, creative people that live in them.

Is there a better spot for picking up cool postcards than a museum shop? I went to preview the Monets at the High on Saturday and picked up this ode to bentwood in their gift shop. This is Ellis Island in 1926, photographer unknown. Every time I see Thonet chairs I think of my friend Sally, who loves them. This photo also makes me think about all the different people who sat in them, where they came from, and where they ended up.

Samples are in and the TrueModern office is excited to see the new Edgar Blazona sofa line in real, physical form. Now they need a name – and that’s where you come in. We know you know your stuff, so TrueModern wants your input and suggestions on what to name these first two sofas. Get creative, get witty, get thinking. Take advantage of the opportunity! Post a name for each sofa in the comments section below.

The other day I was cleaning out my office and I didn’t get very far because I totally scored early on…I found issue 16 of nest so of course I was out after that, I had to go browse through it. I thought I’d share my favorite article from the issue with you here. It’s about Taro de Tahiche, the house Cesar Manrique designed and lived in on the Canary Islands:

The house was carefully sited above five volcanic ‘bubbles,’ large voids in the ash and lava created by trapped air during eruptions.

photos by Cesar Manrique as seen in nest.
