The July issue of House Beautiful is a must-have; I just received it today and they really knocked it out of the park. There’s a house decorated entirely by Albert Hadley for a client he decorated for forty years ago! There’s a Miles Redd spread, there’s a focus on small spaces, there’s a fuchsia foyer, there’s a really fun step-by-step feature about an interior designer re-doing a living room in one day, and there’s a great spread of the coolest wastebaskets on the market. This issue made my entire subscription cost for the year worthwhile.

I have had resolution after resolution pledging to declutter, and here I sit, surrounded by foreign magazines I refuse to throw away and drafting supplies that I haven’t used since grad school. Not to mention the postcards, un-hung art, tax returns, throw pillows for eBay sale and random wires everywhere. Let’s just say a home office isn’t the best place to start. You have to work your way up to that. I found this article over at zenhabits via a friend’s facebook link today and I like it. It makes me feel like I really can declutter ONE room. I’m going to go pick the least cluttered one and see if I can do it all at once right now.Well, scratch that, I’m starting with a drawer. This may turn into a good excuse to go to The Container Store and buy some more clutter…

Today I’m just sharing a little architecture eye candy, Bubbletecture H by Shuhei Endo, that has my mind reeling with green walls, sustainable Japanese cypress, careful consideration of site (especially slope), natural light, shadows and folds, straight and curved edges, Buckminster Fuller, the color and texture of rust in the landscape, log cabins, geometry, balsa wood projects in elementary school Olympics of the Mind competitions, carbon footprints, seasonal changes, temporal changes, other prefixes we’ll be seeing in front of “-tecture,” and a bunch of other stuff. I thought I’d share some shots and let you see what goes through your mind. Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments; I’m really curious to hear.
I want to see this same shot during different seasons:

As I perused Fresh New Spaces on flickr, I found a few members who exalt “bad art” and “crap art.” I love this idea. The first two come from kitschcafe:

The next one comes from Neryl Walker, who calls it “Crap Art”:

When arranged so brilliantly, the bad/crap art looks very compelling!

Here are some of my favorite blue rooms:
This one comes from flickr member peachheights:

This relaxing bedroom comes from supershoppertoo’s photostream:

I love how purplepleasuredesigns has transformed this IKEA dresser with blue:

If you are scared of bright colors, experiment in a closet or a laundryroom like peacock-feather did here:

Love the shade that .YOKOO picked for this workspace:
