With my crystal ball intact I foresee that…
1.) You already know who the Obama’s have chosen as their interior designer. If my sense of foresight is broken, the honored designer is Michael S Smith. Smith’s clients have included Steven Spielberg, Cindy Crawford and Rupert Murdoch among many others. His style: “European tradition and American modernism.”
To take a look at Michael Smith’s previous work I’d highly suggest going to either Smith’s website or domino magazine’s site which features his top ten rooms. Michael, I’d highly suggest taking advantage of Susie Mendive’s offer to use her SUM wallpapers in the White House. Just a suggestion.
I also guess that…
2.) Since it is such a historical day for America you probably won’t be spending too much time looking at modern design but instead focusing on the events of the day. Go celebrate! The winery in my building created a red wine in honor of the day…
Any special plans to follow the events? Happy Inauguration Day!

I hope he does a better job than the three oval office makeovers they show in this month’s InStyle. They all seem terrified of touching anything that had to do with race. Perhaps it was that New Yorker cover controversy that scared them!

That is a job with a lot of pressure, but with a history of clients such as those mentioned, this designer should be able to handle it. He must have a great vision for redecoration. He should come design my house!

There’s a fun interface over at ikea for decorating the oval office ikea-style. The options don’t work, but it’s really fun to play with (props to shelterrific for pointing this out):

Can’t wait to see what Mr. Smith does with the White House! Anxiously waiting for first photos to appear!
