Flipping Out

Posted on July 29th, 2008 by Becky // 7 Comments »

So have you watched Bravo’s Flipping Out on Bravo yet? This season has had a lot more drama and not so much design – marriages ending, nanny cams, employees being forced to (gasp!) take the bus…it’s thoroughly entertaining, and it’s on tonight.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, here’s a little sneak preview.

omg, seriously? this show kinda drives me nuts. i’ve flipped it on a few times and all i ever see is that dude being a total a**hole to his employees and total strangers. give me hgtv any day for good design; candice olsen et al are way better.

Leah, thanks so much for the link. I just said to someone yesterday that I live for jeff lewis.

mk, I totally feel you; you have to give entire episodes a chance and he grows on you. Before I ever watched the show and I saw him on “The Soup,” I hated him and thought he’d be absolutely unwatchable. Watch the tenderness he has w/ his pets and Zoila – I find my self cracking up through the whole thing.

Also, to me, 90% of HGTV is the absolute bottom of the barrel worst design I have ever seen in my life. I like Candace, but she is by far the best one in an absymal lineup of design cliche crap (“bring the outdoors in,”, “this is a very Zen space,” “make it POP!,” “what’s our ‘wow factor’?” – GAG ME! Their horrible house flipping shows (and the one on A&E) can’t hold a candle to Jeff.

no, i hear ya on the level of design on hgtv… you can generally tell that all the stuff was done quickly and is mostly shoddy… but i always walk away with ideas and inspiration. oh, and if ali azahr is on, then i get some eye candy too :) alrighty, maybe i’ll try adn give jeff another shot. but all the crap about ‘you have to answer the phone this way! i’m installing nanny cams! don’t feed my deer!” makes me feel like i’m watching a woody allen film. i never liked woody allen :)

Love Jeff too. It is like watching a car crash. If you work for him you do have to let it go. Chris just did not have it. You will not become project manger by fetching lunch. He should have known that much. HGTV shows SUCK!! Candice is the only one something to show. All the rest are like home decorators gone bad, with too much paint and totally wacky and hideous DIY projects. I am so sick of “the house hunters” that is on every time I check with the channel or “how much your house is worth”. Are people really interested in this???

Krisse, I’m nosy, I kinda like finding out about how much houses are worth, though I usually just scour the city papers!

Did you guys catch Jeff and Zoila on The Soup this week? Joel almost lost it when they did “the search for elle woods” bit! I love how they used Keith Olberman (sp?) to do that bit last week too.
