Here’s what I’ve enjoyed finding on the web this week. By the way, please share some of your favorite design blogs and/or posts with me. I’d love to check them out and add them to my Bloglines Feed!
1) ZM Architecture’s Solar Lily Pads in Glasgow, as seen on Inhabitat.
2) Midwest Family Friendly Modern – a peak into the home of Modern Craft blogger Jim Harbison home via More Ways to Waste Time.
3) Holly’s got a brand new blog! Watch and assist Holly Becker from decor8 set up haus in Germany in her new, more personal blog, Haus Maus. It’s got a fun Making it Lovely-meets-Sprockets kind of vibe. (Just kidding about the Sprockets. I just can’t come up with anything else German besides strudel and my car right now).
4) Not exactly on the web or real high design, but I’ve become obsessed with “Designed to Sell” on HGTV. I cannot get enough of Clive, and the Cheri O’Teri doppelganger, designer Lisa LaPorta. While having to design somewhat neutral for the dreaded resale, I like the way she always hones in on details that are unique to the home and then spins off from there. I also like that they pick fun clients, Clive’s subtly sarcastic comments, and that the contractors are easy on the eyes. I might have to pretend I’m a home-seller soon just so that they’ll come over.
5) Finally, we all have heard horror stories about contractors, but rarely do we get to hear from the other side. As the sister of a VERY talented general contractor, I could not get enough of of “Building Rage” in Thursday’s Home Section in The New York Times. I am sending my print copy to my brother right after I finish typing this. It tells all about the CLIENTS from hell, and lists the ten most annoying things that people do to contractors. For example, number 4 on the list:
Challenge a contractor’s expertise with sentences that include the words “my brother-in-law thinks,” “my neighbor thinks,” or “I took a shop course when I was in 10th grade and this is what I think.” If your brother-in-law was that good, why didn’t you hire him?
Have a great weekend everyone! Don’t forget to tell us about your favorite blogs (it can even be your own, of course!) and posts in the comments section!
Totally unrelated side note: Does anyone here watch Lost? I was confused Thursday night when Kate was tracking, because I thought that The Others did not leave tracks. What’s up with that?
