Thank you Skip!

Gina is Tom Anderson's (the commenter above who included your link)wife. They have a great blog called Modernhousenotes, which you can check out here:

http://www.modernhousenotes.blogspot.com/

Or if that doesn't work, click on the link up above by his name, I know that one works.

Thanks for stopping by - I'm glad you googled yourself!

Hey, in the process of Googling myself (you can never be too careful) I came upon this thread.

The image issue has been resolved by some server and software upgrades. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The Smallen houses are indeed still there. Parson's was for sale the last time I went by.

I am in the process of trying to find out more about Gelbin's McCarthy House, which I have been informed by the current owner is actually called the Murphy House. I might have some more pictures later on.

Thanks for reading.

Oh, and Gina who?

Thanks Tom! I'll probably do a follow up post with more pictures of this house. I'm glad to know they are still standing, though in New Canaan I fear it won't be for long.

I was wrong about there being no permalink to that post with all the New Canaan pictures. Here it is: http://plossville.com/pvblog/?p=67

Hi Becky,

It's your friend Tom. Smallen designed more than one house in New Canaan. We've been in one, during a real estate open house.

I just googled Smallen and New Canaan and came up with this blog http://plossville.com/pvblog/?cat=15 which I hadn't known of before.

There was no permalink but if you scroll down to October 9 there are a lot of pictures of New Canaan moderns, including three by Smallen. The one I was in was the Becker House; it's on the same road as Smallen's Parson's house. The other one is the Smallen House, which is shown in your picture. The blogger (Skip Ploss, I think -- I've never heard of him but Gina is from around here and might know him) took them in October so they're all still extant.
