Do you ever pick up O: At Home? Don’t let the busy cover on the Fall 2007 issue fool you, it does not represent all of the great ideas inside. The cover is of a beautiful Charlotte Moss bedroom, but the angle and composition, the typical staging of the mules by the bed (who gets out of bed and puts on 2.5″ mules? Zsa Zsa Gabor?), and all of that busy writing at the top that cuts off the canopy kind of turned me off, but I’m glad I picked it up. It was interesting that Oprah, Nate, or another famous person was not on the cover this time.
There is a great feature on Charlotte Moss’s shop, some cool makeovers, and one article about an apartment they decorated from scratch which includes all of their very accessible sources – basically you can go to your computer and buy just about anything you see in the room online. The only other magazine that really features accessible sources like this is Domino.
When I saw the article called “Meet the Fluffers,” I giggled and then read on – they define “fluffing” as “the art of making minor adjustments – such as painting a wall, adding a vase full of flowers, or rehanging art – to boost the look and feel of a home. And a homeowner.” It was very clever – they took some spaces and showed what can be done in one hour, one day, and one weekend to switch up the look. It is very inspiring and gave great advice for changing up a space that has become a bit stale with just a few quick moves.
All in all, this issue combines fantasy design with rooms and guidance that is very do-able. It was definitely worth the $3.95 cover price.  Oh, and unlike regular O magazine, there weren’t any lame advice columns by that obnoxious quack Dr. Phil.

I love Nate and his work! Fluffing? Why need a professional to add a vase or paint a wall? I think this is overkill!
Pity Nate is not on the cover though, he he.

nate is sooo cute. I used to love it when women in the audience would stand up and say “hey Nate, can I set you up with my daughter?” He and Oprah would just sit there and giggle.
