Modern Workspace: Flickr Photo of the Week
Hey All! I’ve been collecting images of some of my favorite workspaces to share for awhile, but I thought this one deserved it’s very own blog post. It’s from flickr member shefightslikeagirl, and it’s a beautiful sewing area. She made the wall from IKEA coasters:
Here’s her description of how to D.I.Y.:
The tiles are 108 4″ x 4″ coasters from Ikea. ($2/12 — I especially liked the radiused corners.) They are painted with acrylics (and one interior latex) which I basically had laying around; unfortunately I really couldn’t get the colors to reproduce well photographically. I didn’t know how well cork would take paint, but it worked out pretty well — one coat, a little textury but fine. I affixed them to the wall with a lighter duty Liquid Nails, so they’re up for good. The cork is a little bit thin for pins, but since they won’t be holding up anything heavy (pattern pieces in progress mostly), they do fine.
It looks so gorgeous I’m not sure I’d be able to tack anything up there and mess up her great sense of color! Thanks shefightslikeagirl!
