Surfin’ Around – Top Five Features We Love on the Web This Week

Posted on June 25th, 2007 by Becky

Here are the sites that have been sucking up all my free time and helping me procrastinate cleaning my house this week:

1. Livingetc.: WARNING: DO NOT VISIT THE GALLERY ON THIS SITE UNLESS YOU HAVETIME TO GET SUCKED IN FOR AT LEAST ONE HOUR!

Some favorites:

Rock’n'Roll Ranch House – As much as I hate the cliche “bring the outdoors in” (it usually means placing some lucky bamboo around the house), this house has a great exchange between indoor and outdoor spaces. At first glance, I thought the first shot was outdoors, and as for the second, the tub filled with ice and beer for friendly gatherings is genius. Also, the wooden stairway looks amazing outdoors!

New York State of Mind - The interior spaces of this upstate farm house are so unexpected, and those ceiling beams are to die for!

2. Coverage of really good business cards over at Orange Beautiful. These make me feel so inferior and uncreative, but they are inspiring nonetheless! Be sure to check out the wonderful chartreuse post as well. Orange Beautiful blows my mind! Oh, and speaking of business cards, check out Holly’s new cards over at decor8 (scroll down to the 6.22 posts)!

3. A Month in the Life of a Graphic Designer: Here’s the deal:

Over the next month, Michael C Place of Build and Creative Review will be conducting a unique experiment. We are going to document one month in the life of a graphic designer.

Mr Place (whose desk is shown above) has agreed to record everything that he does during this period. Every piece of work. Every idea. Every presentation. Every meeting.

During the four weeks there will be regular updates here at the CR Blog. You’ll thrill as he meets his bank manager. Gasp as he checks some proofs. Marvel as he tours exotic locations such as Walthamstow and Epping Forest. All will be revealed.

Thanks to sprayglue (a FANTASTIC blog!) for the heads up on this one!

4. I just can’t get enough of this landscape by John Evans Interior Design, which was posted over Made by Girl.

I did not even realize I was doing that at the time – it must have been a very green day for me!

    Thanks Stratos!
