Really Rich Real Estate on VH-1
“The wine cellar holds 700 bottles!”
“That will only hold half of my collection.”
I have to admit, while blog-hopping around this morning I had VH-1’s Really Rich Real Estate on in the background, and I’m hooked. This show is a mix of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, Cribs, and a how to be real estate millionaire infomercial. Basically, they follow the Westside Estate Agency real estate agents as they list homes and try to find homes for their clients. The clients are where the fun comes in:
1) A rocker from Lit whose Hollywood Hills house dream is demolished by his wife, who has to remind him that having a 20′ railing-less drop off to the pool doesn’t mix well with having a three year old.
2) Some huge developer trying to buy the last hilltop in Beverly Hills from some Saudi royalty. Apparently his $30 million offer was just an insignificant drop in the bucket to them - they didn’t even bother to counter.
3) Master P (I think he’s worth a couple hundred million bucks) looking to find all the best modern amenities, like a custom TV that comes out from under the bed. I don’t think having a flat screen under one’s bed is very feng shui…
4) Speaking of feng shui, the most entertaining client to watch was Ileana Douglas, who brings a feng shui advisor named Carol with her. As I watched her agent Max Shapiro (clad in a crappy T-shirt and jeans while he shows clients around - tsk tsk), roll his eyes at Carol and explain that he needs to educate himself about feng shui, all I could think was “buddy, all you need to do is give Carol a cut of your commission - duh!”
One of the Hollywood habits Curb Your Enthusiasm picks up on is that people in Hollywood move every year, from one huge ridiculous house to the next. From house prices larger than budges of some countries to clients who bring their dogs in their arms to tour houses (I mean really, who the hell does that?), from properties that need to be seen by helicopter to being unable to make a decision without a feng shui advisor, from English tudor mansions torn down and rebuilt with exactly the same look to a house that comes with a huge chapel, it’s all total entertainment!
BTW, is this Vinnie Chase’s former house from Entourage? The one on the same street as the brothel and Bob Saget? I missed the episode that featured this house, but it looks like it.

Oh, I’ve got to check that show out, sounds like the kind where you love to watch it to be annoyed, being half the fun!! Where do I sign up to be adopted to go along for the ride to consult on kitchen karma and charge $200 an hour? I could go down that road. Sure I could!

Susan, the way this show goes, you could charge $2K an hour. ONe kitchen had a huge stove custom made for the woman made in France (I forget the brand), a huge subzero fridge and subzero fridge drawers, and a white and red wine fridge, and much more!

OK, $2K it is!! I’ll tell them that super custom stuff is already out, just isn’t working and rip it all out, NOW!

What a great wine cellar that must be. Would love to see that

I haven’t even seen it yet and I’m hooked - LOL! I’m heading over to tell TiVo to start recording it now. If I can’t move into new digs each year, the least I can do is live vicariously through the camera!

Hey Boca! Have you ever had a client make a comment like “only holds half of my collection, but whatever?” I thought my books were a pain to move - I can’t imagine moving 1400 bottles of wine without incident!

Hey CHippyD, I am in Cincinnati right now-just checked out your URL. VH-I V Spot has a lot of this crap on their website, plus they play their shows over and over, you can probably catch it about every-other day!
