Todd Time!

Posted on June 19th, 2007 by Becky // 3 Comments »

todd.jpgHooray! Todd Oldham has a blog on his studio site (not to be confused with the Top Design blogs). It is definitely worth reading! It reminds me so much of “Todd Time” on MTV’s House of Style from the early ’90s (back when Todd was sporting some green hair). This post titled “Curve Appeal” showcases the best of all of Todd’s talents with these elements:

1. Fabulous flea market find

2. Getting creative about how to haul 6 chairs home on foot in NYC
3. A history of Thonet and bentwood chairs

4. A beautiful D.I.Y. project

5. A tale of a chair’s journey from a mental hospital to Maui*

Todd’s Thonet Chair Before (as it appeared in a mental hospital waiting room in a former life):

The Same Chair After (now in Todd’s Maui home):

Pop Muse even found this clip of  Debi Mazar spending some Todd Time in ‘93. I’m guessing this is from the time she joined the cast of L.A. Law (you can catch the fabulous Debi on Entourage these days).

*”Mental hospital to Maui” is making “you made a long journey from Milan to Minsk, Rochelle, Rochelle” go through my head.

Did you steal it from the mental hospital as you escaped Sally? JK!

Yeah, I love that Todd sports a lot of argyle these days too. It works much better for him than the green hair did.

Oh how refreshing – it looks like T.O. actually knows how to blog! Hopefully he keeps at it and builds a community of readers. I’d love to see mroe designers fearlessly embrace social media.

thanks for pointing me to the blog….

    ciao!
