wallpaper march coverBoy am I ever glad that I started subscribing to Wallpaper* again a few years ago. It got kind of lame and too full of itself for awhile, but now it’s back in its full glory. How cool is the hologram of Hussein Chalayan’s mechanical dress on the cover? (you must click on that link – the image on their site shows all three variations of the dress!) Yes, it is sooo last season, as it popped up in every fashion mag a few months ago, which in fashion world time is eons, but the kick-ass limited edition cover hologram makes up for its tardiness.

I was so glad to see Hollin Hills included in this issue. I was struggling to come up with the name of that neighborhood a few weeks back, and I couldn’t remember it. Click here to learn more about Hollin Hills.
The photographs of North Korea’s Arirang Festival by Andreas Gursky are breathtaking. It’s amazing that he was able to gain access – I wonder if the people of North Korea will ever be able to view these, since they aren’t allowed to have magazines like Wallpaper* there.

Then there is all the eye candy architecture from all around the world – from Australia to Pozan, from Spain to Dubai – it is not surpassed by any other other glossy I’ve ever seen. The staging of furniture (tables on the ceiling conjure images of Fred Astaire and Lionel Richie dancing on them, the fashion layouts make me long for their former fashion supplement, Spruce*) – Oh I am just going to drool over this issue for a month or more. It’s going to be a tough one to recycle. I try to be good about purging my glossies, but methinks this one is a keeper.
