January is National Organization Month!
Alright, I keep talking about it, but the thought of getting completely organized is all about baby steps. There is a lot of support, inspiration, and guidance out there and we don’t have to do it alone. I will keep sharing some of my favorite sources as we go along. Plus, don’t feel bad. This is my office on the left - total disaster zone!
For a start, try out flylady.com. Her home page can be a bit overwhelming at first, but start with the current Fly Zone and go from there. What I like about flylady is that she leads you through baby steps and keeps you from feeling overwhelmed. One of her best pieces of advice is to "get dressed to the shoes" every morning. It’s amazing how much more you can get done when you have your sneakers powering you around the house.
Also, everyone should start with a little project that will make you feel a sense of accomplishment. The flickr group called Pretty Organized is full of inspiration. Instead of starting with a mess of a closet, start with a medicine cabinet or a smaller linen closet. I felt a ridiculous amount of pride when my linen closet was this organized after a half hour of effort. Please share your projects here - I’d love to post them in the blog!
