Modern Architecture and Modern Fashion

Posted on February 3rd, 2006 by Becky // No Comments »

fashion.jpgI admit it. I am totally hooked on “Project Runway“. It’s my number three DVR series priority, right behind “Arrested Development” and “Lost”.* Watching tonight, as Chloe took her inspiration from the lines of a modern building, I remembered that I needed to tell you all about an interesting show. Flavorpill mentioned The Fashion of Architecture: CONSTRUCTING the Architecture of Fashion this week:

“The Fashion of Architecture explores the fertile interaction between architects and fashion designers exchanging cutting-edge materials and structure for couture tailoring techniques. Representatives from architecture include Zaha Hadid and Shigeru Ban, Yohji Yamamoto and Hussein Chalayan are some of the representatives from fashion., who reinvent classic apparel through structural innovations. Tying it altogether is Helfand Architecture’s installation design, which artfully emphasizes the spatial dynamics of the items on display.”

I wonder what Michael Kors and Jay My-Diva-Attitude-is-Larger-than-my-Talent McCarroll would have to say about that spiel?

You can catch it now through Saturday, March 11 at The Center for Architecture in NYC, Mon-Fri: 9am-8pm / Sat: 11am-5pm, 536 LaGuardia Pl, 212.683.0023.

*I’m sure I’ll be finding some way to involve Arrested Development in a blog, using the horrid model home they live in as an excuse. Has anyone found a website with a Bluth model home tour? I think it would be hilarous. It could be the one they live in, or Saddam’s.
