Are your walls blank? One of the best decorating moves you can make is to invest in art you love. Obviously, a collection you love will take a lifetime to accumulate, but you can get a jump start or add to your existing collection this week. Over 130 galleries will be exhibiting this Thursday, October 27th through Sunday, October 30th at the AAF Contemporary Arts Fair. The fair is at Pier 92, and prices range from $100-$10,000.

Even if you cannot make it, you may join The New Collector’s Group. According to their website, “the AAF will offer members year-round programming to further involve them in New York’s contemporary art world. The goal is to create a relaxed and educational atmosphere for art enthusiasts and budding collectors.” It sounds to me like this group my cut through some of the intimidating pretensions that can scare newbies away from exploring and enjoying the art world.

If anyone attends the Fair and/or joins the New Collector’s Group, please write in and give us your two cents on the experience, or post some photos to our Flickr group!
