Sad Chairs

I have basically been goofing off and reading Amber Nussbaum’s blog all day. It totally sucked me in. I am supposed to be writing about some new pillows or something but I just keep linking all over the place and then back to her site again. She has THE BEST links (yeah, I admit, I found it because she linked to us, so sue me). My favorite so far is “50 Sad Chairs.” What a great project. #24 “Doorstep” looks like a chair I’m going to go steal - is that an Emeco?

My personal favorite is #20, “Break Area”. It reminds me of so many horrible temp jobs I had, with EVEN WORSE break areas than that one. In fact, that one is Villa D’Este compared to some of the places I’ve eaten my sad brown bag lunch. It makes you conjure up the image of the people who actually set it up. Did they buy that furniture deliberately with the parking space allocated for the break area in mind? Did they steal it from a nearby yard? Find it on the curb? Or was it more accidental than that - did it fall off a truck and land right there? Which came first, the smokers or the furniture?
