This week we are proud to debut two new lines, Context and Amy Ruppel’s Plume Pillows from Eleventwentyfive. Amy is close to our heart, as we profiled her (as a customer) last year. Gary from Eleventwentyfive read the profile, and he and his partner Jennifer produced the pillows. We asked Amy and Jennifer to comment on the design process. Here’s what Amy had to say.
As a huge fan of colorful household items, I’ve always dreamed of creating my own products for the home. This dream was finally realized when I was ‘found’ by Eleventwentyfive by way of a few emails of praise, which lead to an interview posted on EDGE*MODERN (now Design Public).
I soon found myself talking with Jennifer Katell of Eleventwentyfive. We hit it off immediately. Here was an independent company that was willing to take my ideas and run with them for me, and with me. I loved being part of the process, working closely with Jennifer to narrow down the designs (there are many!), setting up the screen, picking vibrant colors… it was all really happening.
I am so happy with the Plume Pillows! I love that from afar, they resemble flowers, yet as you get closer you see that the ‘petals’ are owls. I feel that elements of surprise and delight are a necessary addition to any home, very much like a favorite work of art hanging on the wall. A pillow on your sofa or chair should make you smile and welcome your happy head… or feet. Whichever needs more rest. As an artist who is continually inspired by all that luscious design out there, I feel honored to be able to contribute to it in my own way.
I am looking forward to future projects with Eleventwentyfive. I’m just getting started!
