Here’s a program that’s near and dear to our hearts out here in SF: Arts for Youth. They’ve responded to recent budget cuts in school programs by serving up public school programs in music, fine art, dance, and theater. Arts for Youth partners with arts education non-profit organizations and supports them by recruiting, training, and paying brilliant aspiring arts leaders to work for these groups in Fellowship positions.
Who knows, we may have an Anthony Marschak or a Pablo Pardo right here in the Bay Area and not even know it. We need to find out. We need to find the ‘Good Will Hunting’ design savant kid at some local school and convince him to stay with design and move to California with Minnie Driver.
So if you live in the Bay Area and are looking for a fun design-related children’s cause, give Arts for Youth a call. You tell ‘em that Drew at Design Public sent ‘ya.
And when they ask ‘who the hell is that’, explain that Design Public is a website.
