At Design Public, our mission is to bring you fresh new design. But it’s also to deliver this design in a fun and approachable way.
We can blog about all sorts of cool things related to design, for example, from Vespa customization to Gary Coleman sightings to watermelon strut tables.
This week we are rolling out new Kids and Baby categories, so we are going to have some extra-fun. Kid-like fun. For the next several weeks we are blogging about children and design. We’re calling it ‘Baby Blogapalooza 2005′.
For Baby Blogapalooza we asked TEN top parenting blogs to guest-post on Design Public for the week. The subject? Kids and design, of course. And to make it interesting, we also asked the top contemporary baby and children’s furniture designers to blog on the same subject.
To our surprise, everyone agreed.
So tune in for posts from . . .
- Sophie Demenge, designer for Oeuf
- Lizabeth Sorensen from The Daily Stroll
- Greg Allen from DaddyTypes
- Ben MacNeill from The Trixie Update
- Beth Adams from Crazy Us
- Kyra Hartnett, designer for Twenty2
- Whitney Wingerd from Mommies With Style
- Mari Jansdottir, designer for Gustav Maxwell
- Alice Bradley from Finslippy
- Jay Allen from The Zero Boss
- Eden Kennedy from Fussy
- Amy Storch from Amalah
- Kris Bernard from Better Living Through Design
- James from Land+Living
- And our own style editor Becky from our own Design Public Blog
Baby Blogapalooza promises to be one of the summer’s ‘can’t-miss’ events, so sit on down, pop open a bottle of room temperature milk, and start drooling at all these great bloggers. And be sure to check out our new Modern Kids and Modern Baby categories for the best modern gear for your brood.

An old friend of mine from SF who now lives in Australia is releasing a new line of original modern art for kids. I cannot wait until these are available and several shops should be stocking them early next year. Check out http://www.deedee914.com and look at the “Chunks” line. I cannot begin to tell you how hard it’s been trying to find modern furniture and decor for our 1 year old and baby on the way that will “age gracefully”. Sometimes Mickey Mouse just doesn’t go with Eames but these new pieces of original art are cute, fantastic, and colourful!
